Pamela Coates and Preedawan Moss impressed the judges of the Bradford Textiles Society Awards and received commendations for their entries. The pair are currently studying for their degree at University Campus Suffolk (UCS) Lowestoft.
Preedawan, who lives in Leiston, received praise for her intricate Origami inspired designs constructed from folded card in the category for a material construction for either fashion or interior products produced by non-conventional processes or new technologies. Pamela received a commendation for her entry in the category for first year students for their knitted fabrics that showed creative potential. The student who lives in Halesworth created a textured dress which drew inspiration from multiples in the environment.
Competition for the awards is tough with students from some of the country’s most respected universities putting forward their designs. Each student has to create a mood board to show their designs off to their full potential and show how their ideas and creations evolve.

Janet Piehl, course leader, said: “Students from the BA (Hons) Design course have been taking part in the competition for over 10 years and have a strong reputation for winning prizes – competing against much larger institutions such as the Royal Academy. I am very proud of all of the students who took part and of course the winners. This is a great award to put on their CVs.”
Pamela and Preedawan have been invited to attend the award ceremony in Bradford at the start of May (6th) where they will be able to see their entries exhibited alongside the other award winners.
