10 Reasons to Go Organic

10 Reasons to Go Organic

You probably already know that there is a lot of confusion surrounding organic and non-GMO food labelling.

Food labelling can be very difficult to follow, especially if you’re just trying to buy food that looks good for yourself and your family. You want to choose safe, healthy foods that taste nice and don’t contain too much water, but when you buy a product you want to make sure that you are avoiding the ultra processed.

If you’re trying to get the best, then switching to organic labelling may be your best option. You need to look at the labels and adjust your food budget to include organic options so that you can feed your family the best. You can taste the difference between organic coffee beans and the cup of instant you would usually drink. So, let’s take a look at why going organic is the best thing that you can do for yourself and your family.

  1. Organic certified foods are not genetically modified. There are regulations that prevent genetically modified foods from also being organic, which means that if you want to be more organic in your choices, you are avoiding foods that are also injected, vaccinated and genetically modified. It’s the easiest way to avoid stuffing your body with genetically modified foods that are not home grown.
  2. No synthetic pesticides. One of the best reasons to go organic with your groceries is that you can almost guarantee that there are no synthetic pesticides sprayed all over them. The regulations prohibit certain pesticides from being used on crops but there aren’t any special restrictions for non genetically modified crops. Non-GMO crops can be grown the same as the other conventional crops out there and these can still be stuffed with toxic residue – which you definitely want to avoid.
  3. No glyphosate. The widest used herbicide on the planet is glyphosate, also known as Roundup. This is prohibited for use on organic crops and this is because it’s a toxin that can accumulate in your body. The more you are exposed to it, the more it builds. This toxin has been linked to cancers, birth defects and kidney disease. There is even evidence to show that there is an escalating incidence of autoimmune and other disorders of the brain being experienced. There are plenty of products in the market that may seem healthy, but they can be laced with glyphosate, and that needs to be avoided as much as possible.
  4. There’s no toxicities during processing. When organic ingredients are being processed, they’re not processed with hexane – which is known to be toxic. Almost all conventional oils are extracted with the neurotoxin hexane, and there is plenty of residue to show that it remains within that oil. Soy products, especially, are processed with hexane, and there has been some testing that shows residue is often left behind. There is plenty of research to show how hexane impacts the body but there isn’t much out there to show how safe it is to have that neurotoxin in the food. Industrial exposure has previously been linked to brain damage and nerve damage, so you’d think there would be a maximum level, right? The good news is that it’s banned from the organic seal.
  5. Organic crops aren’t fertilised with sewage. One of the biggest problems in food production, particularly in the US, is that food crops are fertilised with sewage sludge. This isn’t the case for organic crops. When crops are fertilised this way, it’s been proven that these contaminants are absorbed into – or the residue is left on – the food we eat. With organic food, this contaminant isn’t present because it’s not sprayed or used on them in the beginning.

6. Organic meat doesn’t get fed with ractopamine. This is a growth-promoting drug, and organic meat doesn’t contain it which means you’re not going to be looking at or eating bloated chickens that have more chemicals than organic meat. You want your family growing the right way, not taking in over-inflated meat which isn’t conducive to good health. Residues of drugs like this have been long found in meat and eating products with traces of it can lead to cardiovascular system issues.

7. Organic animals aren’t packed with antibiotics. Yep, this is actually a thing! Antibiotic options have been used for years to fatten up farm animals and this is polluting the environment – and our bodies. With organic food options, this isn’t the case and you don’t have to worry about your kids eating it. There are studies to show that antibiotics have the same consequences for us and these can fatten us up, too, which isn’t helpful if you’re trying to keep your weight down.

8. You’re going to feel healthier on the inside. Organic foods can help you to feel good on the inside. When you choose to go organic with your food, you’re going to be choosing better options for your whole family. More wholesome produce and better produced packaged foods will go a long way in your household without anybody getting sick or feeling sick because of the food they’re eating.Non-GMO label claims are unregulated so anybody can say that their product is non-GMO.But when you choose food that has been labelled as organic from the get go, you know you’re choosing good things for your own health.

9. You will live longer. When you are choosing wholesome foods, you’re going to be putting better things into your body, which means your heart and your organs are going to play ball for longer. Foods that have been packed with chemicals, antibiotics, or any other bloated materials that make the food look good but do not taste good or act good are better. Organic foods can prohibit all the chemicals, known as obesogens that our bodies use to store fat. You want to live a long and healthy and happy life and if that’s the case for you, then you should make sure that you are choosing food that is marked as organic. Flipping your ingredients to organic ones will help you to live better for longer.

10. You can avoid any of the synthetic preservatives. Chemicals like synthetic pesticides, antibiotics, and growth hormones. They’re just not used in organic food. Chemicals like this can make you more tired and they can really wreak havoc on your skin and your body systems. They make you feel miserable and even when you’ve been dieting and exercising, they can put you at risk for scary diseases. When you eat organically, you are making a conscious and healthy decision to eat well for your body. Using foods that are often slightly more expensive so your budget has to adjust with you. There may be cheaper food options that are organic, but generally an organic food budget is going to come up higher than one that is non organic.

Sometimes you have to put your health first and by choosing organic foods you’re putting the health of yourself and your family at the forefront. Those organic coffee beans are going to be processed differently to the non organic coffee beans. The fruit and vegetables that have been sprayed with pesticides could be different in your body than they would be on the plants. When you are avoiding foods that have been sprayed with different chemicals, you are putting better things into your body to help it to grow and to feel good. This is the overall goal and that’s what you should be aiming for for your health.
