How to Spruce Up Your Garden within a Weekend’s Time

How to Spruce Up Your Garden within a Weekend's Time

Do you want to spend more time outside this summer? If so, sprucing up your garden is a great way to do just that!

Not only will it be beautiful and inviting for you, but the rest of your family as well. Here are some tips on getting started and getting the job done within a weekend’s time!

#1 Remove weeds and dead plants

The first thing you will want to do is remove any weeds or dead plants that are currently growing in your garden. Not only does this make it look more aesthetically pleasing, but it also ensures there isn’t anything harmful lurking around for the new growth to get started on! Also, if you have any plants that are still in good shape, consider repotting them. Start by removing the weeds and then cut back all of your perennials (plants like hostas).

Once this is done, put down some newspaper or mulch to prevent anything from growing where you don’t want it to! Finally, make sure to fertilize before adding new growth. Wear thick gloves and use a small shovel when removing these items. Then, place them into plastic bags so they can be easily disposed of later. In addition, a leaf rake will help get rid of any leaves that may have fallen in your garden.

After you’re done, take a moment to admire how much cleaner the area looks already! The most important thing to remember when sprucing up your garden is not rushing through it! Unlike other projects around the house, which can be completed within a day’s time frame, gardening takes patience and care throughout every step of the process.

#2 Trim trees and hedges

In order to make sure your garden receives adequate sunlight for new growth to take place, you will need to trim any hedges or overgrown trees. This step is easy and can be done by anyone as long as they have the proper tools! Also, make sure that it doesn’t disrupt any sprinkler heads that may already exist in your yard when you’re doing this task.

Make a note of where all these are prior to beginning, so nothing gets damaged! It would be best if you also considered adding some mulch around the base of your tree trunks so their roots don’t become too exposed through time. Once this is completed, feel free to give yourself a pat on the back because we know how satisfying being able to see into another part of your yard can be!

A little extra work each week will ensure that it stays this way even after the initial weekend is over. However, if you feel overwhelmed by everything there is to do or simply don’t have enough time during the busy weekdays, feel free to contact forestry services for help on getting started with spring planting.

#3 Create structure by edging the lawn

Another critical step to take before you plant anything new is edging your lawn. This will give it a clean, defined look and make sure that all of the dirt in your garden doesn’t get mixed up with the grass growing elsewhere!  To begin creating an edge on one side of your yard, use a shovel to dig out some small holes along where you would like them to appear. Then place either stones or pieces of wood inside each hole, so they stand upright while also cutting down on any weeds from popping up later on.

#4 Install garden lamps and a pathway

Now that your lawn is clean and edged, it’s time to add some fun decorations! For instance, garden lamps are a great way to bring in some ambience while also lighting up the rest of your yard. These can easily be purchased at any local hardware store or garden centre, so you don’t have to worry about dropping off an expensive item during delivery.

Create more light by installing solar-powered pathway lights along where you would normally walk when strolling through your backyard. Not only will these provide extra illumination for safety purposes, but they are also very easy on the eyes! Then consider adding some plants near each lamp post which will help give them even more life once it begins getting darker outside.

#5 Plant flowers to add colour

In order to make your garden come alive, you will need some flowers! The easiest way is to start with a few and then add more in the future if desired. To plant these items, use a shovel to dig small holes about six inches deep, all around where you would like them to appear. Then place each one into its own spot and cover-up its roots with dirt so they can continue growing strong! When doing this step, it’s essential not to take any shortcuts, such as only planting certain types of flora along the borderlines, since this may cause problems down the road when trying to grow new plants or maintain existing ones.

In conclusion, once you have completed all of these steps, your garden will be looking great in no time! Furthermore, since this is a weekend project, it can easily fit into any schedule and, if done correctly, should only take about one full day to complete.
