Summer is a great time to think about getting healthy. The weather is getting warmer, so it is much easier to get outside and get some exercise! In this article I want to look at great ways to get healthy this summer.

Cycling

A great way to get out and get healthy this summer is cycling. Dust off your old bike and take it out for a spin. The great thing about cycling is that you are outside in the fresh air and the sunshine, but unlike if you go for a run, you can cover a lot of ground on a bike without needing to be a super athlete. This makes cycling a really fun way to get out and about.

Of course, cycling is also an eco-friendly option, which is just the icing on the cake.

One thing that is worth saying, if you haven’t used your bicycle in a while it will probably need a bit of maintenance and attention before it is road worthy. It is definitely worth considering replacing old parts like valve caps or brake pads.

Hiking

A really great way to get out and about this summer is to simply set off a walk. The great thing about hiking is that it can be a fun, social activity for a whole family. It doesn’t require anyone to be super fit, but it has all manner of great health benefits. Not only is it great exercise, but hiking out in a beautiful, natural spot can be very inspiring. If you work and live in a city, it can be great to get out into nature as a way to relieve the stresses of urban life.

A final thing about hiking that makes it a great choice for getting healthy in summer is that it is inexpensive. After all, walking is free!

Getting Healthy In The Summer

Kayaking or Canoeing

Another great summer activity is to get out on the water. If you are lucky enough to live near a lake or river, a great way to get some exercise and do something a little different is to hire a boat. If you are looking to get fit, then hiring a canoe or kayak is great exercise. Also, out on the water is a great way to enjoy warm weather without overheating. One thing to be careful of though is the complete lack of shade when out on open bodies of water, so do pack plenty of sunscreen! And of course, if you still find yourself getting too hot, you can always take a dip in the water to cool off.

A great thing about kayaking or canoeing is that you can often get to places you can’t reach by foot or by car. This can be great for wildlife watching, as often these areas are undisturbed and peaceful.
