Local Author Releases Eagerly Anticipated Second Book In Children’s Adventure Series

Underground Escapade

Author and Attleborough resident Sam Bartram releases his new book Underground Escapade on 18th July 2020.

Underground Escapade, the sequel to Bartram’s popular debut Finny’s Star and the second book in the Peter and Millie Adventures series, is an adventure novel for children and is targeted at the 9 to 13 year age range.

Blurb: Peter and his best friend Millie are back together for another enthralling all-action adventure!

Eight months after the dramatic events on the Scottish Isle of Orsk, Peter and Millie travel to London to receive a special award from the Queen. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Peter has qualified to compete in a National Athletics competition the following day. However, their already action-packed weekend takes a turn when they learn that an old adversary has escaped from prison. The dangerous criminal Derek Mooney has a score to settle and nothing to lose, but surely wouldn’t risk venturing to London to exact revenge on Peter and Millie? Would he?

Underground Escapade is the second Peter and Millie Adventure, following on from Sam Bartram’s popular debut novel Finny’s Star. It’s a high-octane thrill ride of a journey around (and below) one of the world’s most exciting cities that will leave you wanting more. Be prepared for twists, turns, excitement and danger, as the two friends have a weekend they’ll never forget!

Fact or fiction: In the book, Peter and Millie discover the headquarters of a criminal organisation far below the streets of London, hidden beside a secret underground platform at Charing Cross Station. This isn’t a complete work of fiction though! There really is a disused platform at Charing Cross Station that was part of the Jubilee Line, but closed in 1999. It is now sometimes used as a film set!

Author quotes: “I am really pleased to be able to bring Peter and Millie back together again for another adventure, and what setting could possibly be more exciting than London.”

“Although some of the characters are the same, Underground Escapade has a different feel to Finny’s Star. It bounds along at a breakneck pace, very much like the setting of London itself, and doesn’t allow the reader to draw breath.”
