How To Exercise As A Beginner Without Hurting Yourself

How To Exercise As A Beginner Without Hurting Yourself

If you’re not one for exercising on a regular basis, you’re not alone!

Many people can find it hard to keep up with a workout routine, or simply don’t place much value on hitting the gym in their life. But if you want to get into exercising at least once a week, you’re going to need to learn how not to hurt yourself! Because going in too hard and heavy is an easy mistake to make, and that’s something we want to avoid here. As such, here are some tips to keep in mind before you set off jogging, swimming, or weight lifting.

Warm Ups are Necessary, But So Are Cool Downs!

We all know just how much a warm up does for us, but cool downs can often be forgotten about. However, you need to cool down after exercising to ensure your heart rate goes back to normal, and things like lactic acid don’t build up in your muscles and joints. Good cool down exercises are low in intensity, and help you to come down from the high of exercising in a slow and precise manner. So tone things down as your exercise session comes to an end and always feel cool before you finish for the day.

Don’t Move onto ‘Heavier’ Sets Too Fast

If you’re a beginner, you need to work slowly here. You need to take your time with your sets, reps, and equipment and make sure you’ve wringed out all the benefits in the previous actions before moving on to something heavier. Your body needs to be ready to breach the gap and take that jump, and that rarely happens after a week or two. You can differ in what you do, yes, but make sure the intensity level is the same in each different circuit you choose.

Give Yourself a Massage

If you do pull something, or maybe stretch a little too far, an at-home massage is the way to go. Massages are great for releasing the tensions that build up in our muscles, and you can very effectively massage your own arms, shoulders, legs, and feet if need be. Indeed, combine this with some CBD massage oils to help smooth out any pain and you’ll even be straight back to exercising the day after without any worry.

Talk to a Trainer

Trainers are here to help you, and if you like to go down the gym to exercise, it’s worth it to talk to them. Let them know you’re a beginner and what kind of goal you’re looking to achieve and then follow their advice. Get opinions from two or three different trainers and then be sure to follow what they say; you’re much more likely to get a specific, personalised workout routine here than anything you can find online.

Exercising as a beginner doesn’t have to be scary. Take it slow, make sure you cool down, and never forget just how good a massage can be for you!
