Cool but Affordable Car Customization Ideas
You don’t have to go into debt to have a cool looking car.
You’d be surprised by the number of customization options available to you for almost nothing. In many cases, these low-cost modifications are super easy to remove and transport to other vehicles if you’re moving on to a new car.
Decals and Overlays
Decals come in many shapes and sizes and can be applied to your car at a lower price than a fresh coat of paint. Headlight and taillight overlays can add a different colour to your lights without changing the bulb.
Private Number Plates
A private number plate can bring a lot of personality to the boot of your car. You can really get creative on this one – you don’t just have to write your name.
Interior LED Lighting
Believe it or not, LED lighting is really cost-efficient and easy to install. Many lighting kits fit nicely into your stock vehicle’s interior. These LED strips usually come in 16 colours that you can rotate if you get bored.
Enhanced Exterior Lighting
What was once seen as a luxury, HID and LED lighting has now become commonplace in cars. You can easily upgrade your halogen headlights on older cars for less than £100. If you don’t like the sound of that, you could install aftermarket fog lights instead.
This accessory is both functional and stylish. Although its commonplace to tint your windows black, you can pick from a multitude of colours. Just keep in mind that the front side window needs to maintain a certain amount of visible light to remain legal.
Used or Aftermarket Audio Equipment
Finding a decent sound system for cheap isn’t impossible! Some affordable modifications like new speakers, subwoofers and even car stereo unit heads can be purchased instead of the stock equipment. I’d recommend shopping around in used car lots as well.
You can easily find steering wheel covers – even in Poundland! If you want something fancier, you can search for different colours, patterns and materials in automotive shops that are likely to hold up longer. If you’re going to replace the whole vehicle’s stock, that is also possible for cheap if you find an aftermarket model.
A high-speed car isn’t complete without a spoiler, I mean you can go at least 1% faster! They also make a cool ornamental feature that is easily found and purchased for super cheap.
Floor Mats and Seat Covers
Tools aren’t required to install this upgrade. Even custom-fitted mats can be acquired at little cost. They also have a function besides style – they add comfort for the passengers in your car. It’s also super easy to transfer them to a different vehicle.
Mesh and billet grille inserts can be added on top of your main grille, or can be applied within the front air dams – the choice is yours. These are especially popular with truck owners and on Ford Mustangs.
