The nation has decided that Blakeney Point, Norfolk is high on the wish-lists for many travellers, with the open-air theatre securing top spot in McCarthy & Stone’s ‘Hidden Gems’ survey.

A national McCarthy & Stone survey that had over 1,400 participants and a selection of ‘Hidden Gems’ to choose from, took place earlier this year and garnered exciting results. With an aim to find the UK’s best locations and attractions for family days out, day trips or short breaks away, the voters ranged in age, gender and geographic demographics. Blakeney Point proved itself to be a sought-after destination for people in the East Midlands and North London regions, and even claimed votes from the North West and Scotland.

Blakeney Point, Norfolk won 11% of the total votes

Minack Theatre, Porthcurno won 17% of the total votes

The Shell Grotto, Kent won 13% of the total votes

Rievaulx Terrace, North Yorkshire won 10% of the total votes

Tucked away on the coast of Norfolk, Blakeney Point, which came in third, is home to the best of UK wildlife and nature. It’s home to seals (newborn seal pups are visible around November to January) and it’s internationally famous for its birdlife.
