Top Essentials to Pack for Summer Festivals

Summer Festivals

With the warmest season of the year just around the corner, all the summer adventures begin!

It is the best season to make unforgettable memories, relax and have fun. So whether you prefer dance-heavy festivals, arts and theatre festivals, jazz showdowns or anything else, we created a list of summer festival must-haves to not forget at home.

What to Pack for a Summer Festival

First of all, get a big backpack to fit everything you might need and make sure to pick one smaller bag for you to carry around the festival.

Key Essentials

These essentials should make it to the packing pile right at the beginning. It is your ticket and parking ticket, wallet and money or card, cell phone and charger pack, your ID and other documents you might need, and don’t forget your medication. Put these items into a small waterproof bag together to keep them safe from any elements.

Also, if the festival has an app, download it now.

Toiletries

You definitely want to stay fresh and clean as long as it is possible during the summer festival. We recommend getting a waterproof cosmetic bag so you can carry all the toiletries around the camp.

The first thing to pack is your toothbrush and travel-sized toothpaste, followed by your favourite shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Last but not least a deodorant, day and night face creams, lip balm, hair brush and hair bands and clips should find its place in your cosmetic bag too.

We also recommend bringing a quick dry towel that does not take up much space in your travel bag and dries pretty quickly so it is always ready to use.

Our tip: At Notino you can get the lightweight towel and small reusable travel bottles so there is no need to bring the big bottles of shower products.

The ‘Nice-To-Have’ Toiletries

These toiletries are great for refreshing yourself anytime during the day. We are talking about baby wipes for cleaning anything and everything, matt control blotting papers, thermal water in a spray for hydrating your skin, anti-bacterial hand gel, dry shampoo and one toilet roll just to be sure.

Beauty Products and Fragrance

Whether you prefer bold makeup looks or more natural makeup, travel-sized waterproof beauty products are always a great option for summer festivals. The same goes for fragrances, so treat yourself to a small bottle of your favourite fragrance or purchase a refillable perfume atomiser at Notino, it is easy to use and you can even wear it in your pocket!

With your favourite makeup products a makeup remover wipes should also make it to the cosmetic bag. To keep your skin looking its best even in tough conditions, bring a cleansing soap for face, such as Nivea Magic Bar, to deep clean your skin at least once a day during the festival.

First Aid Essentials

For an emergency bring some plasters, insect repellent and bite cream, disinfectant wipes and painkillers.

Sun protection

Being exposed to the sun all the time during the summer fest might do a great damage to our skin. So make sure to pack the best creams with SPF to be protected against harmful sun rays and to avoid sunburn or even sunstroke.

You will never go wrong if you bring sunscreen with SPF 50 for the body, and a facial sunscreen that protects the skin against both UVA and UVB sun rays does not clog the pores and has a mattifying finish. And don’t forget to bring some cute hats.

Our tip: To reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours, bring a sunscreen mist (SPF mist), it is easy to apply and does not ruin your makeup.

Water Bottle

Bring a reusable water bottle that can be carried around during the day and refilled with water anytime so you stay hydrated.

Camping

The camping part may be tricky for some, but these essentials will make your stay as much comfortable as it can be. Some festivals offer tents for rent, and sometimes you need to bring your own tent, so make sure you have enough room for you and your things. Another great idea is a sleeping bag, inflatable mattress or roll mat and camping blow-up pillows. To make your temporary home even more comfy, bring a lamp to hang inside the tent and a picnic blanket.

Clothes

Think layers! As the weather is always unpredictable, and even if the days are hot, nights might be cold, layering is the best way to be prepared for anything. You need to be ready for daily changes of clothes plus a couple of extras for options or if you get wet or muddy.

Bring a waterproof jacket, warm socks and a warm jumper for chilly evenings and nights.

For shoes, wellies for muddy days, sturdy shoes and flip flops that are great to use in the shared shower so you do not bring back home any foot fungus.

Make sure to bring a laundry bag or devote one plastic bag to dirty clothes to keep them separate.

And now you are good to go, enjoy your summer and have fun!
