The new TWIST from Be Cool is a revolutionary car seat that, as the name suggests, can be TWISTED round in either direction.

From Birth to Four
As I discovered with my two-year old daughter, the car seat allows you to keep your child rear facing. And it will do that all the way up to 18kgs or approximately four years of age, if you prefer. My little girl doesn’t mind looking at the back seat. She will quite happily nod off in that position. However, given a choice, she prefers facing forwards so she can see us – and she does, in her own pretty vocal way, let us know that. But that’s okay, because it’s easy to switch things round.

Technology
The Twist benefits from Isofix and also has its own innovative “SAFEARM” technology that supports the whole section holding the baby in the event of impact, providing extremely high levels of safety, whether it is fitted in the rear facing or forward facing position. It has four recline positions, four adjustable headrest positions and a central harness adjustment. Everything about the seat is easy – from the fitting of it to strapping your child in to it.

Straps
The only gripe I have is that the harness could be a little more generous. My little girl is actually pretty small for her age, but with a winter coat on, the harness straps come up a tad short. It’s not a massive deal, though. She actually likes travelling without her coat on anyway. And with it off, the straps are easy to adjust on her.

Safety
It is very important that the Be Cool Twist is used rear facing at least until baby reaches 9kg in weight or approx. 12 months of age. It can then continue to be used rear facing until baby reaches 18kg or, as I mentioned, it can be twisted round on the base so your little one is then forward facing.

The Twist was successfully crash tested at the TNO Laboratory in Holland and, as a dad of three, I have no qualms using it. In fact, I highly recommend it – as can my youngest child.
