Why on earth would a rugby club open a free school? Ok, so it’s in conjunction with a local secondary, but still – what’s the point? What’s in it for them?
Working alongside local sports clubs to take part in educational visits is a fantastic opportunity. Why can’t the sports clubs leave it at that though? Why does Saracens rugby club need to stick a toe in the pool of education? I’m not sure of their motivation, like a lot of businesses, and would question their ability to do a good job as it certainly isn’t an area in which they’re experts.
Whatever next? Watch this space as the target is for 500 more free schools by 2020.
