New Arts, Music and Culture Festival Launched at Norfolk Showground
A ground-breaking new initiative, entitled Summertime Social, is being launched next week which will see an incredible mix of national and international performers from across live music, arts, DJs and comedy perform at the Norfolk Showground from 14th of August to the 13th of September.
This exciting new partnership between Ideal Events, Red Card Comedy Club, Pop-up Pictures and Norfolk Showground, has been created to develop new ways of presenting outdoor live performances within a safe socialising and working environment.
The festival, which is running over 30 days in late summer and early autumn, will involve a mixture of artists from across a range of mediums. The venue will play host to a selection of home-grown performances, as well as musicians and comedians from acts including Symphonic Ibiza with guest Sonique, Big Fish Little Fish, Mark Morriss (The Bluetones) and Chris Helme (The Seahorses) Bongo’s Bingo and Wildpaths presents Wildfields.
“We are delighted to be putting on the festival which will give people from across Norfolk & Suffolk a chance to experience some of the very best the arts world has to offer at what is a very challenging time for the outdoor events sector,” said Danny Banthorpe of Pop Up Pictures. “Thanks to the way the partnership has so successfully come together this unique festival of performances has been curated to bring joy, laughter and fun to the end of a long and quite different summer for us all.
“Throughout August and September Summertime Social will have a respectful and happy atmosphere where friends can safely come together and where you can support local events, producers and promoters,” said Stephanie Crowe from the Norfolk Showground. “Spanning comedy, music and performance, the line-up promises to offer something for everyone.”
The showground will be set up with fully outdoor event area with main stage area, sound, lighting and LED screens for extra viewing, socially distanced pre-marked out pod spaces and an on-site street food and drink market. Ensuring a safe environment for all has been a key objective of the project.
All the events will run from Thursday to Sunday with a mix of shows – each individually ticketed. There will be day and evening performances including a mix of current and past movies with Pop Up Pictures, live acts, DJs and plenty for the family with children’s theatre and circus.
Tickets are sold in two, four and six socially distanced marked spaces – with a maximum of five adults and one child in a six person space. All tickets are priced starting from £15 (excluding cinema), with the family Summertime Playdays events at £5 per adult and any number of accompany children are free.
