Porkstock Announces Headline Sponsor For 2018
Porkstock Announces Headline Sponsor For 2018 & Reiterates Support For Norfolk Charity
- Cranswick Country Foods and Wayland Farms announced as headline sponsor of Norfolk family food festival
- Nelson’s Journey is Porkstock’s nominated charity for third year in a row, as organisers aim to raise thousands for bereaved children in Norfolk
Cranswick Country Foods and Wayland Farms have been announced as one of two headline sponsors of Porkstock 2018. The food and drink festival organisers have also announced that Nelson’s Journey will be the beneficiary of all festival profits. The Norfolk charity supports bereaved children and their families.
Porkstock will take place on Saturday 13th October 2018. The award-winning festival, which celebrates everything that is fantastic about local food and drink, will again take over a corner of the Norfolk Showground.
This is the fifth year that Porkstock has been a public event, having originally been started 15 years ago by a group of beer and barbeque-loving friends. It is now a free family event during the day and an over-18s ticketed party in the evening. The theme of great local food, drink and entertainment runs throughout the day and evening: with fabulous local produce and street food on offer. The event is organised by an unpaid committee, supported by an amazing team of volunteers.
Sarah Daniels, also known as Queen Pig, is managing director of The Red Cat Partnership and has been part of ‘Team Pork’ for five years. “We couldn’t make Porkstock happen without the generosity of companies such as Cranswick Country Foods and Wayland Farms; it is their financial support which underpins the event and allows us to raise much needed funds for Nelson’s Journey. Every year we try to bring something new to the festival, whilst retaining its essential ‘Porkiness’. Visitors will see a new foodie stage, lots of new exhibitors and lots more fun for visitors of all ages. Of course, favourites such as our sausage eating contest and Norfolk Bingo will be returning.”
One of the UK’s largest ethical food producers, with a long history in Norfolk, Cranswick Country Foods and its sister company Wayland Farms, first supported Porkstock in 2017 and have decided to increase their sponsorship for 2018.
Sam Smith is the company’s HR Manager: “We’re proud to be part of Porkstock’s celebration of Norfolk’s great produce for the second year in a row. We share Team Pork’s passion for locally produced, quality produce. From farm to fork, Cranswick Country Foods and Wayland Farms have blended knowledge passed down through generations, with state of the art facilities to breed and nurture the best pigs and process them into the highest quality pork products. And the best bit? By celebrating our passion for Norfolk pork, we are helping to raise money for a worthy cause. Now that’s something to squeal about.”
For the third year in a row, all profits from Porkstock will be donated to Nelson’s Journey, with event organisers hoping to exceed the £10,173 raised in 2017.
“Porkstock 2017 was our best yet,” says Ben Handford, fellow member of Team Pork. “More than 5,000 people came along to the daytime foodie festival and we had some fabulous feedback. But we won’t rest on our laurels and, with the continued support of our volunteers and sponsors, are confident that we can inject even more family, foodie fun into the event and raise lots more money for Nelson’s Journey.”
Simon Wright, chief executive of Nelson’s Journey said: “The money raised at last year’s Porkstock has helped Nelson’s Journey at a crucial time. In the last year, we’ve seen a huge growth in demand for our services. The £10,173 raised has contributed to the salary of a support worker over a six-month period, allowing us to support an even greater number of bereaved children in Norfolk. Porkstock’s continued support means that we can continue to work to bring back smiles to children who’ve lost a special person in their lives.”
