Wymondham Abbey hosts fabulous festival of guilt-free food and drink
Wymondham Abbey Harvest Veggie Fest
Saturday, September 23
On a day that felt more like summer than the start of autumn, Wymondham Abbey’s Harvest Veggie Fest was packed to the rafters.
The crowds came out to enjoy the stalls and demonstrations, and to sample great local food and drink – both inside the glorious Abbey and outside in the grounds.
Queues formed for hot food provided by Vettes Veggie Van, Chaat Man’s Indian street food, and gluten-free food from Sara by Nature. And there were more treats from Kind Food Bakery.
Opportunities to satisfy your sweet tooth came in the form of delicious goodies from The Norfolk Truffle Company, The Artisan Pastry Chef, Fab Fudge and ice-cream from Mooilicious – as well as The Garden Pantry Preserves and Norfolk Honey to take home
Outside, there were craft ales and ciders to sample from Poppyland Brewery, Norfolk Raider Cider and Wildcraft Brewing. And Inside the Abbey, there was a touch of the hard stuff from Pell and Co, whose Hopton Gin is made from Norfolk sugar beet and distilled with English hops. Or, you could just enjoy tea and cake inside the Abbey pop-up café.
Throughout the day, there were demonstrations inside the tent from various stallholders including: Madame Zucchini, with her “Veg-tertainment Show”; Johnny from Van Vino, on pairing wine with vegetarian and vegan foods; a gateaux icing demonstration from The Artisan Pastry Chef, and Sara Matthews of Your Gluten Freedom on allergy-friendly food.
A team from Buy Local Norfolk were also on hand to spread the word about supporting local businesses.
A truly enjoyable and guilt-free day.
