National Picnic Week has chosen these locations due to their outstanding natural beauty and historical significance. These locations offer a broad range of settings, something for everyone. The overall winner was the Jubilee Gardens in Beer, Devon, chosen for the stunning view of the beach and village from atop an idyllic hillside.

Adam Cox Founder of National Picnic Week says: “It was a difficult choice to choose the winners and runners up throughout the UK as we are always inundated with nominations. The winners were chosen due to variables including their scenic locations, cultural significance and either popularity or reputation as being a ‘hidden gem’. National Picnic Week was created to inspire families, friends and couples to celebrate our outdoor locations by taking a picnic. The best days out are a combination of good people, good food and good weather. Luckily we’ve been having fantastic weather so far this National Picnic Week so if you haven’t already had a picnic this year, get out there while the weather is still good!”

Here are National Picnic Weeks regional winners:
 

Scotland’s Winner is The Fairy Pools in the Isle of Skye, chosen for its breath-taking views.

Northern Ireland’s Winner is Carrick-a-Rede, chosen for dramatic vistas you can’t get anywhere else.

Ireland’s Winner is Loughcrew in Co Meath, chosen for its Neolithic tombs.

Wales’ Winner is Barafundle Bay Beach, boasting a huge amount of space to enjoy the view of the ocean.

The North West’s Winner is Saint Herbert’s Island in Cumbria, thanks to the local history of Saint Herbert himself, and the natural beauty of the area.

The North East’s Winner is Gibside in Newcastle, chosen for its historic Gibside Hall, and maze.

The East Midland’s winner is Padley Gorge Trail, an almost mythical forest to get lost in.

The West Midlands’ Winner is Jephson Gardens, Leamington, thanks to its flowerbeds and 14 acres of garden.

The East’s Winner is Wimpole Estate, chosen for its gothic architecture. A visit there is like travelling back in time.

Yorkshire’s Winner is the regal Rievaulx Abbey, a stunning piece of history.

London’s Winner is the world famous Hyde Park, perfect for people watching in the summer.

The South East’s Winner is Corfe Castle, thanks to the enduring ruins you can explore.

The South West’s Winner is Lydford Gorge, chosen for its spectacular 30 foot waterfall.
