Join the intu Chapelfield Summer Party
It’s a fun, free get-together on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July, complete with winning musicians
intu Chapelfield is hosting a Summer Party over the weekend of Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July. The shopping centre will be transformed into a scene inspired by the traditional village fete, with attractions including a giant helter skelter (a big hit at the shopping centre last summer), fairground games including hoopla and hook a duck, and a donut eating challenge from Krispy Kreme.
On Chapelfield Plain, from 11am to 5pm on both days, shoppers will be able to relax in deckchairs, enjoy alfresco food and drink, and soak up live music. Alongside such Norwich favourites as Lee Vann and Felix Simpson, Summer Party-goers could also enjoy an acoustic performance from some new local talent.
The shopping centre has launched a competition, inviting musicians based in and around Norwich to submit clips and share social media pages of their performances for a chance to perform at the Summer Party. The intu Chapelfield team are looking for performers with that extra special something – be it classical, folk, rock, blues or jazz. The winning musicians, will be named on Monday 26 June, and will win the chance to perform at the intu Chapelfield Summer Party on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July,
Sheridan Smith, marketing manager at intu Chapelfield, says: “We know that there are some brilliant people making music in and around Norwich. Many local performers have helped to kick-start their careers performing at events like ours; it would be a lovely addition to our Summer Party to showcase the best of local talent, and maybe even discover a new star in the making. If you’re keen to perform at intu Chapelfield, send us a clip or a social media link, we’d love to hear from you; you could find yourself live on Chapelfield Plain, and who knows who might be listening?!”
The intu Chapelfield competition is now open and will close at midnight on Wednesday 14 June, with the winning act expected to be announced on Monday 26 June. Musicians are invited to submit recent footage, or social media links, to email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org, addressing the subject line as ‘intu music competition’ followed by their name. The winners must be available to perform on both days of the shopping centre’s Summer Party (Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 July) and have access to their own equipment.
