Famous Attendees at Ladies Day in the Past

Famous Attendees at Ladies Day in the Past

Ladies day at Cheltenham has long been about much more than racing.

Dressed up in the finest of clothes with ever more elaborate and intricate hats, it’s an opportunity to put your best foot forward and be noticed for your style. Daring colours and Striking outfits aren’t the only thing being spotted on Ladies Day though, with lots of famous faces on show there will be plenty to see.

Below are some of the famous faces that have been spotted around The Festival in the past, who will be at Cheltenham 2017?:

Manchester United Football Team

The players from Manchester United are regulars at Cheltenham Racecourse. They were spotted in 2015 revelling in the atmosphere at The Festival less than 24 hours after a 2-1 defeat to rivals Arsenal, prompting a fierce backlash from supporters.

Jeremy Kyle

The nation’s favourite agony aunt, Jeremy Kyle, is an avid horseracing fan and he’s even owned a thoroughbred or two. One of his horses, Dormello Mo, ran at Cheltenham four times and even finished 12th in the County Hurdle at the 2015 Festival before being sold in 2016.

The Queen

The Queen is a massive racing fan and has very strong links to Cheltenham having horses competing in The Festival regularly. One of her horses, Barber Shop, finished a respectable 7th in the Gold Cup in 2009. Her mother, The Queen Mother, was also a massive fan of the jumps and has a raced named in her honour for raising the profile of the sport; the Queen Mother Champion chase.

Katie Price

It’s no secret that Katie Price is a fan of horses, but it may surprise you that she is a regular at Cheltenham. In 2016 Katie let her knowledge do the talking as she placed a bet on the stellar thoroughbred Thistlecrack that ended up demolishing the field and romping home in first place.

John Motson

John Motson is about as famous for his Del Boy-esque sheepskin coat as he is for his commentating and much to the delight of the revellers at the festival that same coat makes regular appearances at Cheltenham, along with John of course.

Victoria Pendleton

Victoria Pendleton won two gold medals and one silver medal during her Olympic track cycling career and you would have thought that would have been enough. Not satisfied with that she is now a fully-fledged horse racing jockey and has participated in the 2016 Foxhunter Chase at Cheltenham. She finished 5th in that race, outperforming many pundits’ predictions and described it as “probably the greatest achievement of my life”.

Lily Allen

Lily Allen makes regular appearances at Cheltenham, last being spotted revelling in the atmosphere in 2014. She must really enjoy horseracing as she splashed out on a pair of nags in 2012 and named them Polish rider and Ombrellino.
