Brewery invites beer lovers to create their dream pint - by submitting bizarre flavours

A Scottish brewery has invited beer lovers to create their dream pint – by asking them to submit the most bizarre flavours they can think of.

The competition has been launched in the UK after enjoying success in Sweden where a Bourbon Barrel-Aged Jalapeño Imperial Stout was crowned as the top beer idea.

Previously released flavours also include raspberry, citrus and MAPLE SYRUP.

Innis & Gunn is searching for a beer lover with creative flair to collaborate on next ‘Imagine & Gunn’ limited edition barrel aged beer.

The person with the top idea will head to Scotland to brew their innovative beer flavour with the brewers.

Once completed the final beer will be available across the UK in 2018, bearing the name of the creative.

Dougal Gunn Sharp, Innis & Gunn Founder and Master Brewer explained: “Ideas can come from anywhere and everywhere, and Imagine & Gunn really excites me because the possibilities for beer are limitless.

“This is our way of inspiring beer drinkers to look at their beer and see something new – similar to when I had my own lightbulb moment which created our first beer, Original, and now our unique barrel ageing process where we put the barrels into the beer.

“We have never stopped experimenting and innovating and I hope this inspires people to get involved with Imagine & Gunn.”

Craft beer brewers are known for their innovation and pushing the boundaries, and Innis & Gunn is no exception.

The craft brewer is known for its flavoursome barrel-aged beers, using two different methods of barrel-ageing to impart the incredible flavours and aromas from the wood into the beer.

Recently, Dougal Gunn Sharp developed a new unique method of putting the barrel into the beer for its core beers Original and Blood Red Sky.

The new limited edition beer will be barrel-aged, and the winner of Imagine & Gunn will be able to experience these methods first hand when they brew their beer with Dougal.

Innis & Gunn’s Imagine & Gunn was originally launched in Sweden in 2016 with Mika’s Choice, a Bourbon Barrel-Aged Jalapeño Imperial Stout crowned as the top beer idea which is now on sale across Sweden and in the UK at www.innisandgunn.com.

Canada has also seen the its own Imagine & Gunn competition, which received over 1,000 entries and is currently open to the Canadian public to vote for their winner.

The UK will be able to share their flavour ideas to Innis & Gunn at www.innisandgunn.com until midnight on Friday 17 November.

A shortlist will be put to a public vote to determine the winning brew, which will be announced in December 2017.
